The program lasts 3 semesters, which will be divided into two school periods, offered in Santiago de Chile and one semester for thesis preparation.
The two school periods consist of compulsory and optional modules, which must be approved before starting the thesis work. In the third semester should develop the thesis.
Mandatory Modules take place at the Heidelberg Center for Latin America and will be taught by professors from the University of Heidelberg, the Catholic University and the University of Chile. While optional modules are part of the programs offered by the UC and U of Chile respectively.
The courses will be taught in Spanish or English. In addition, participants can take free courses in German, if they wish.

- Insights from the perspectives of the natural sciences:
Climate and seismic risks; ecosystems; biodiversity; climate and hydrology; availability of water and energy resources, among others.
- Insights from the perspectives of the social sciences:
Spatial and urban planning; economic development and sustainable resource use; political and legal systems; economic crisis management; the role of insurance, among others.
-Analysis of governance cases
The master’s program “Governance of Risk and Resources” is aimed at graduates for careers of Geography, Geology, Economics, Agronomy, Engineering, Political Science, Law etc. as well as students of Masters programs in Geography, University of Heidelberg, Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile and Universidad de Chile.
